Future Teacher Grant-In-Aid/Scholarship
The 2020 recipient, Hannah Wood, from Rockingham County High School, is attending Appalachian State University.
The 2019 Recipient is Mattie Thomas (McMichael HS)
Each year Alpha Delta Chapter awards a $1,000 scholarship for college to a deserving young lady from our area. This scholarship is intended to assist the recipient as she is enrolled in a college-level course of study. Selection criteria emphasizes participation in a teacher preparation program. The scholarship is presented to the recipient at the May Alpha Delta meeting.
Mini-Grants to Beginning Teachers
Beginning Teachers Support Chairperson, L. Haynes, announced at the December, 2021 meeting, recipients of the 2021-22 mini grants.
Bailey Gray from Barlett Yancey High School received a grant for the AP Environmental Science project “Ecocolumns.”
Clorinda Vido from Morehead High School received a grant for the Beginning Visual Arts project “Inner Demons.”
In the fall of 2020 grants were awarded by Alpha Delta Chapter to India Trice from Caswell County and Candace Corcoran from Rockingham County. These Mini-grant awards are an ongoing project conducted by the Beginning Teacher Support Committee. Candidates submit applications explaining a project for their students that would utilize the funds. One beginning teacher from Caswell and one from Rockingham County are selected based upon merits of the project described.
